Instroduction
The PosiTector RTR roughness thickness gauge is used to measure the height of the peaks and valleys formed on the surface of the reproduction tape (reproduction paper) through the imprinting process. The instrument is simple and convenient to test, can be operated with one hand, and has built-in temperature compensation to ensure measurement accuracy. The reset function allows users to quickly restore the factory settings. The instrument screen is equipped with a liquid crystal display with wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant functions, and the casing is equipped with an impact-resistant rubber protective cover, which can effectively protect the instrument from acid, oil, water, solvents, and dust.
During the testing process, the instrument can continuously display and update the average value, standard deviation, maximum value, minimum value, and the number of measurements. Through the USB interface, the data can be conveniently output to a computer or printer.
Measurement method
Preparation of the test surface:
Select a representative area for measurement. Clean the surface for testing. DeFelsko suggests using a cleaning putty to remove dust, debris, or residual sandblasting media from the surface. Firmly press the putty onto the surface with your fingers and remove it.
Grinding the replica tape:
Choose a suitable range of the replica tape based on the target outline (coarse or X-coarse). Refer to the instructions for replicating the tape. There is a magnetic tape copy with adhesive on the back of the single side of the pull-resistant anti-stick paper. The "target center" circle on paper A should be kept on the release paper (which is not used for measurement). Use the round end of the included stainless steel polishing tool to firmly compress the copy film. It is suitable for circular and XY friction movements to produce a replica with a uniform pebble-like appearance with sufficient pressure. It usually takes 30 to 60 seconds to fully compress all parts of the film on most surfaces. Generally, excessive compression is safer than insufficient compression. After polishing, remove the magnetic tape of the replica from the surface.
Preparing PosiTector RTR:
Clean the measurement surface (measuring base) using the included cleaning card. Clear dust particles and remaining tape adhesion by pressing the card several times while firmly pressing the two probe buttons. Press the center navigation key on PosiTector RTR. An image appears indicating that the probes need to be zeroed. Press both buttons simultaneously, and the probe will slowly measure while the instrument emits a beep and the arrow points outward. Do not place any items during this process. The measurement includes checking the gasket to verify accuracy. Ensure the correct grade of the replica tape, C or XC, is displayed in the upper left corner of the LCD screen.
